Air Canada emergency landing in Toronto

TORONTO, March 23 (UPI) -- An Air Canada domestic flight with 105 people aboard made an emergency landing in Toronto Tuesday because of a problem with the hydraulics.

Air Canada Flight 433 from Montreal was on approach to Toronto's Pearson International Airport at 9:12 a.m. when the pilot advised the 99 passengers there was a problem with a hydraulic system, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

The pilot said as a safety precaution, fire trucks were awaiting the Airbus A-320 on the runway.

Once the plane landed safely, the hydraulic steering system failed, so the passengers were evacuated onto the runway on emergency chutes, the Toronto Sun said.

Some passengers suffered minor injuries during the evacuation, and one was taken to a hospital with back pain, airline spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick told the Sun.

The airline was investigating the source of the problem, he said.
