New war crimes cases being investigated

BELGRADE, Serbia, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Three new cases of possible war crimes have been uncovered in Bosnia and the eastern Slavonia region of Croatia, a war crimes prosecutor said.

Vladimir Vukcevic said one of the cases involves the deaths of 30 civilians in the second half of 1992 in eastern Bosnia, Serbian broadcaster B92 reported Friday.

Vukcevic said his office is searching for witnesses and has already located some in Western Europe.

"We have about 20 suspects in this case and they are in Serbia and have Serbian citizenship," he said.

The two other war crimes cases involve the deaths of 25 civilians and five prisoners-of-war in Slavonia.

Vukcevic said there are five suspects in both those cases believed to be residing in Serbia.
