Americans mark the 22nd anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks with memorials and commemoration ceremonies in New York City, at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania, where hijacked planes crashed. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the worst-ever terrorist attack on U.S. soil.
