Joe Biden was projected the winner of the U.S. presidential election on November 7, 2020, four days after Election Day. The victory denies a second term to President Donald Trump. A vote count was slowed by a surge in mail-in ballots due to the coronavirus pandemic and a high turnout. Harris becomes the first woman and first Black and South Asian woman to be elected vice president.
