President Obama nominates Merrick Garland to Supreme Court (13 images)

President Barack Obama has nominated Merrick Garland, chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals in the D.C. district, to fill the Supreme Court vacancy left by the late Justice Antonin Scalia. Garland is a centrist confirmed to his current post with strong bipartisan support. Obama made the announcement in the White House Rose Garden on Wednesday, March 16, 2016.
