U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, announced Wednesday he won't seek re-election in 2024, calling for a new generation of leaders. Romney, 76, a former governor of Massachusetts, has served in the Senate since 2018. He ran unsuccessfully for president against Barack Obama in 2012. In 2020, Romney was the lone Republican to vote to convict President Donald Trump in his first impeachment trial.
