Nik Wallenda, a remember of the great tightrope-walking Wallenda clan, will attempt a 1,400-foot-long stunt across Little Colorado River Gorge in Arizona on Sunday night. He will not wear a harness.
You can watch Wallenda in action online -- albeit with a 10-second delay -- at the Discovery Channel's website starting at 8 p.m., ET.
According to NBC News, the 34-year-old tightrope walker has his heart set on becoming the first person to cross the Grand Canyon on a rope.
"I've had a dream to be the first person in the world to walk a tight rope directly above the Grand Canyon," Wallenda said in a video posted to his website.
But according to several observers, Wallenda's stunt won't actually take place at the famous national landmark. A rep for the National Park Service told Forbes that "the event would not have been approved in Grand Canyon National Park."
Regulations state that "events must not unreasonably impair the park’s atmosphere of peace and tranquility or have an unacceptable impact on the experience of park visitors.”
Wallenda will actually cross what some call the "Little Grand Canyon," a gorge at Little Colorado River on the land of the Navajo Nation.
But that's still 1,500 feet above ground.
