July 6 (UPI) -- A suspect shot himself dead after leading police on a car chase following a mass shooting in which four were killed and three injured early Saturday morning in Florence, Ky. Local police responded to emergency calls reporting an active shooter at 2:51 a.m. at a private home on the 2600 block of Ridgecrest Drive in Florence.

Police found seven people shot, four of whom died while three were seriously injured and taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The three surviving victims are listed in critical condition at the university hospital.
Responding officers could hear gunshots as they arrived and learned the suspect, Florence resident Chase Garvey, 21, left the crime scene.
The shooting happened during a 21st birthday party at a private residence to which Garvey was not invited but was known by attendees.
Florence police identified the victims shot and killed by Garvey as Florence residents Melissa Parrett, 44, and Shane Miller, 20; Hayden Rybicki, 21, of Elsmere; and Delaney Eary, 19, of Burlington.
Parrett was hosting the birthday party for her son.
Although he wasn't invited, Garvey showed up, anyway.
Some partygoers identified him as the shooter when police arrived and described his vehicle.
Some officers recognized it from when they entered the property and soon after attempted a traffic stop near U.S. 42 and Farmview Drive.
Garvey led police on a car chase that ended when he shot himself and crashed his car.
He was rushed to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Florence Police Department said Garvey acted alone and there is no danger to the general public.
Florence is located about 11 miles southwest of Cincinnati and is part of the greater Cincinnati metropolitan area.
