Hearty Acquisitions issues mislabeled soup recall in New York

Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Hearty Acquisitions Inc. of Brooklyn, N.Y., is recalling its pints of their tomato basil with rice soup because it contains undeclared soy from another product, butternut squash bisque.

On Friday, the Hearty Acquisitions issued the recall on 16-ounce containers of tomato basil with rice with an expiration date of March 3, 2024.

In a statement, the company said the affected soup was distributed locally in the state of NY several stores including Food Garden Market, Windsor Market, Lincoln Market and Food Universe.

People who have allergies to soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The affected soup comes with #03222024 on the top side lid and UPC 635508547872.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem, according to a statement from the FDA. According to the agency, subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by mislabeling of the product during the boxing process.

Distribution of the batch has been suspended until FDA and the company are certain that the problem has been corrected.

Consumers who have purchased 16-ounce pints of tomato basil with rice are urged to dispose of or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-718-640-1854.
