Suspect in fatal shooting of rap star Trouble surrenders, denied bond

June 7 (UPI) -- The man suspected in the fatal shooting of an Atlanta-area rapper known as Trouble surrendered early Tuesday to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect, Jamichael Jones, 33, allegedly shot the rapper, whose real name is Mariel Semonte Orr, during a home invasion on Sunday morning at the apartment where a female companion of the rapper lived.

Jones, who reportedly did not now the musician, was arrested at 1 a.m. Tuesday after officers contacted him with the help of his mother and encouraged him to turn himself in, according to Sheriff Eric Levett.

"His mother was a huge resource in helping us apprehend him," Levett said at an early morning news conference.

He faces charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, home invasion and battery, Levett said, adding that it was an ongoing investigation. No weapon has yet been recovered in the case, he said.

Jones was arraigned before a Rockdale County judge on Tuesday and was denied bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 15.

Orr, who had collaborated with Drake and The Weeknd, was affiliated with Def Jam.

The label described Trouble on Instagram as "a true voice for his city and in inspiration to the community her proudly represented."
