Sept. 20 (UPI) -- In an announcement about extending its services on Monday, DoorDash will now offer customers the option to buy alcoholic drinks to be delivered to their door.

The company will facilitate the delivery of wines, beer and spirits across 20 states, Canada and Australia on its own platform.

For years the delivery service has offered alcohol on-demand through third-party platforms, but it has now added an alcohol tab to its platform for over 100 million adults.

Bloomberg News said the move will pressure other delivery giants like Instacart and Uber Eats to offer the same service.

DoorDash will tap into markets where services strictly for alcohol delivery -- like Saucey and Drizly -- already exist. The company could increase a restaurant's average order by 30%, according to CNBC.

Retail giants like Walmart have also been offering the option in their delivery services.

DoorDash said it has built a catalogue of over 30,000 different kinds of alcohol available for purchase across 10,000 retailers.

The company cited a recent Nielsen report that shows that alcohol is the fastest-growing e-commerce and that DoorDash will see increased sales.
