Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Just days after content platform OnlyFans surprised many with its announcement that it would ban sexually explicit materials in a few weeks, it made another surprising move on Wednesday by entirely reversing the policy change.

The platform, which is popular among creators of adult content, said last Thursday that it was banning porn at the request of financial partners. Wednesday, it said that was no longer a problem.

"We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change," the platform said in a tweet.

"OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators."

Some had criticized the porn ban, notably sex workers who generate income from the content they post to OnlyFans.

The London-based platform was founded in 2016, claims more than 150 million users and says it pays out more than $5 billion per year to creators.
