Two women shot in Indiana factory parking lot; male suspect in custody

Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Two people were killed and a suspect is in police custody after a shooting at a parking lot outside a factory in Indiana on Wednesday.

Clinton County Sheriff Rich Kelly said the two victims were women and the suspect was a male, adding that all three were employees at NHK Seating of America in Frankfurt, Ind.

The sheriff's office said it received a call reporting the incident at 4:15 p.m.

That led police on a vehicle chase as the suspect fled the scene and crashed his car. Kelly said he was not injured in the crash and was taken into custody.

An investigation into the incident was ongoing and Kelly said there was not immediately any information regarding the relationship between the suspect and the victims or a potential motive.

The identities of the victims were not immediately released as authorities were still in the process of notifying next of kin.

The factory was closed for the day following the shooting.
