Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Boston Mayor Marty Walsh will appear in Congress Thursday for his confirmation hearing to become President Joe Biden's labor secretary.

Walsh will testify before the Senate health, education, labor and pensions committee, beginning at 10 a.m. EST.

Biden nominated Walsh for the post last month.

"Walsh has worked tirelessly to rebuild the middle class, create a more inclusive, resilient economy and fight for workers in his hometown -- including fighting for a $15 minimum wage and paid family leave," Biden's transition team said at the time.

Walsh has been mayor of Boston since 2014 and was previously a member of the Massachusetts House.
