Police make arrest in death of 13-year-old N.C. girl

Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Law enforcement in North Carolina charged a 34-year-old man with first-degree murder for the death of a 13-year-old who went missing in early November.

In addition to the murder count, FBI and Lumberton Police Department charged Michael Ray McLellan with first-degree forcible rape, statutory rape of a person under 15 years of age or younger, first-degree sexual offense, statutory sex offense with a person 15 years or younger, first-degree kidnapping, felony larceny, felony restraint, abduction of child and concealment of a death.

Officials said he sexually assaulted and killed Hania Aguilar after she was forced into a family member's SUV on Nov. 5 in her driveway in Lumberton. Searchers found her body three weeks later in the same county from which she was abducted.

Testing from the stolen SUV in which Hania was abducted and from her body led police to arrest McLellan. The cause of her death has not been determined.

McLellan was in prison on a separate case at the time of his arrest. He is being held in Robeson County Detention Center with no bond and is due in court Monday.
