List of current, former leaders set to attend Bush funeral

Dec. 5 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump will be joined Wednesday by a number of notable world leaders and figures for the state funeral of president George H.W. Bush at the National Cathedral.

President George W. Bush, the son of the 41st president, will give the main eulogy at the service, scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. EST. It will be a rare gathering of the current and all living former U.S. presidents -- Bush, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter. Former first lady, senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will attend with the 42nd president.

Former British Prime Minister John Major, who served in the position for the majority of Bush's time as president, will attend along with Prince Charles, BBC News reported.

In addition to U.S. political leaders, German Chancellor Angela Merkel leads a list of foreign dignitaries who have traveled to Washington D.C. for the funeral. That list includes King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan, Australian Governor-General Peter Cosgrove, Polish President Andrzej Duda and Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, prince of Bahrain, CNN reported.

Former leaders attending are Lech Walesa of Poland, Carlos Salinas of Mexico, Yasuo Fukuda of Japan, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani of Qatar, Anibal Vaco Silva of Portugal, Toomas Hendrik Ilves of Estonia, Nasser al-Mohammed al-Ahmed al-Sabah of Kuwait, John Swan. of Bermuda.

Children of past presidents who will attend includes Chelsea Clinton, Susan Ford-Bales, daughter of Gerald Ford; Tricia Nixon Cox, daughter of Richard Nixon; Luci Baines Johnson and Lynda Johnson Robb, daughters of Lyndon B. Johnson.
