Nov. 24 (UPI) -- The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating the cause of a ferry crash into the San Francisco Ferry Building that slightly injured two people, the agency said Saturday.
The MS San Francisco struck an outer berth and then the dock at the ferry building around 2:30 p.m. Friday at the terminal along the San Francisco waterfront, WPIX-TV reported.
The Ferry Building was not damaged and the crash didn't result in any delays.
There were no reports of pollution in the crash, which the Coast Guard described as an allision.

"The purpose of the Coast Guard's marine investigations is to ensure we understand the cause of the allision and are able to recommend measures that can prevent future incidents," Lt. Cmdr. Krysia Pohl, Coast Guard Sector San Francisco's Inspections Division branch chief, said in a press release. "Our primary concern in any investigation is safety of passengers and the environment."
The San Francisco-bound ferry, with 53 passengers, was traveling from Larkspur. It can carry up to around 750 passengers.
One passenger sustained back injuries but refused treatment and a concession worker was treated at the scene for a bruised hip.
"I thought it was going to go straight into the restaurant so I started running the opposite direction," Angelina Sivoia, who was dining nearby at The Slanted Door restaurant, told KGO-TV.
Golden Gate Transit District spokeswoman Priya Clemens said the crash appears to be mechanical.
Holes are in the metal hull, and it broke the concrete and metal railing on the dock.
The damaged ferry boat will have to be towed back to Larkspur.
