Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Chicago police are trying to find out what happened to a pregnant U.S. postal worker who vanished two weeks ago, but they suspect foul play.
Kierra Coles, a letter carrier, was last seen as she left her Chicago apartment Oct. 2. Her cellphone and purse were found nearby in her locked car. Her family said she is three months pregnant.
Thursday, police said it appears her case involves some type of foul play.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service and National Association of Letter Carriers are offering a $28,000 reward for information.
Authorities said Coles, 26, called in sick on the day she went missing and surveillance video captured her walking on a street that morning. Police have no leads or suspects in the case, and have asked or help from the public.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Kierra and her family, and like everyone else we hope for a positive outcome to this situation," said NALC official Mack Julion. "Here in Chicago, her local union is doing everything that we can, and we will not rest until she is located."
Father Joseph Coles has maintained a vigil outside his daughter's apartment building and is living in his car, he said, and pledged not to leave until she is found.
