June 28 (UPI) -- The House passed a resolution Thursday demanding the FBI and Justice Department hand over records related to the Trump campaign and the ongoing Russia investigation. Lawmakers passed the resolution by a vote of 226-183, "insisting" the Justice Department turn over documents about the investigation into whether Russia interfered in the 2016 U.S. presidential election -- and whether there was collusion with Trump's campaign staff.

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., said the release of the documents would end the "whole fiasco" of the investigation.
The resolution is nonbinding but effectively puts those who voted on record to show where they stand with Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.
Republicans say they will move to hold Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in contempt of Congress or attempt to impeach him if he doesn't comply and hand over the documents by July 6.
Democrats say Republicans are going after Rosenstein to discredit the Mueller investigation.
The resolution also calls for documents on the FBI's investigations of Hillary Clinton's email scandal from her stint as secretary of state and the Clinton Foundation.
Trump tweeted support last month for releasing the documents, calling on the FBI and Justice Department to deliver "conclusive answers."
The resolution came on the same day Rosenstein and FBI agent Peter Strzok, a former member of Mueller's team, appeared before House lawmakers to answer questions about the investigation.
