June 25 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump scored high marks for intelligence, strength and decisiveness -- but lower grades when it comes to honesty and likability, a new Gallup survey said Monday.

The survey asked more than 1,500 Americans about 13 personal characteristics.

Fifty-eight percent said Trump is "intelligent," 51 percent called Trump a "strong and decisive leader" and 50 percent said he's able to "bring about the changes the country needs."

The president fared worse in the other 10 categories.

The majority of respondents said he does not keep promises, understand complex issues, care about "the needs of people like you" or "is a person you admire."

Nearly 70 percent disagreed that "he works well with both parties in Washington to get things done."

The largest change in the poll is the view that Trump keeps his promises. In February 2017, the month after his inauguration, 62 percent agreed with that statement. In Monday's survey, that figure was down to 47 percent.

Predictably, Republicans gave Trump higher ratings in every category and by overwhelming margins compared to Democrats.

Eighty percent of Republicans said Trump cares for the needs "of people like you." Only 11 percent of Democrats agreed -- a 69-point difference.

The poll carries a margin of error of 3 points.
