June 15 (UPI) -- One child was shot dead and three other people were injured after a gunman opened fire at a shopping center near Denver on Thursday.
The injured include a child and two adults. Police have not yet publicly identified the victims but said there was no relation between the four and the gunman, the Denver Post reported.
The suspect is in custody but police have not released his name or possible motive, KKTV reported.
"As soon as we are able, we will release additional information regarding this case," Westminster police said in a statement.
Witness Shaun Lucius told KUSA-TV he heard seven or eight "deliberate" gunshots before he saw a man run away from the scene.
"Like somebody was taking their time aiming at whatever they were shooting at," Lucius said. "It wasn't like they were out there just shooting at targets."
