Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Former first lady Michelle Obama has announced her upcoming memoir is titled Becoming and will be available this fall.

"Writing BECOMING has been a deeply personal experience," Obama wrote in an Instagram post Sunday. "It has allowed me, for the very first time, the space to honestly reflect on the unexpected trajectory of my life.

"In this book, I talk about my roots and how a little girl from the South Side of Chicago found her voice and developed the strength to use it to empower others. I hope my journey inspires readers to find the courage to become whoever they aspire to be. I can't wait to share my story."

The memoir is part of a joint book deal for the former first lady and President Barack Obama with Penguin Random House.

The book's website says the memoir is a work of "deep reflection" and "mesmerizing storytelling."

"With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it -- in her own words and on her own terms," the book website states.

"Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations-and whose story inspires us to do the same."

Upon the book's release Nov. 13, Michelle Obama will go on an international and national book tour.

The former president's upcoming book is expected to detail the behind-the-scenes activity during his eight years in the White House. Its release date and title have yet to be announced.
