Death toll from Grand Canyon chopper crash rises to 4

By Sara Shayanian

Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Another person has died from the crash of a helicopter in the Grand Canyon earlier this month, authorities said.

British tourist Jonathan Udall was on honeymoon with his wife, Ellie Milward, when the chopper they were riding in crashed near Quartermaster Canyon, about 60 miles west of Peach Springs, Ariz., on Feb. 10.

Jason Hill, 32, his brother Stuart, 30, and Stuart's girlfriend Becky Dobson, 27, all died.

Udall, 32, had been hospitalized with critical injuries before his death, officials said. Milward, Jennifer Barham, 39, and pilot Scott Booth, 42, remain in critical condition.

The British friends were celebrating Stuart Hill's 30th birthday and booked a helicopter for a sightseeing tour over the Grand Canyon.

"Our good friend Jon Udall has succumbed to his injuries," Chris Tucker, who set up a crowdfunding website for Udwall and Milward, said. "He was strong, brave and I will never forget him. I will update this page when possible. Ellie is critical and is continuing to fight."

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash. It said the helicopter made at least two 360-degree spins before it went down.
