Poll: Clinton supporters more 'excited' to vote in Nov. than Trump's

Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Voters who backed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton are more enthusiastic to vote in this fall's midterm elections than Trump's supporters are, a new poll indicated Wednesday.

The Public Policy Polling survey showed that 65 percent of Clinton voters said they are "very excited" to vote this fall, compared to 58 percent of Trump supporters.

The survey results could indicate a trend of electing Democratic candidates that could impact national midterm elections in the fall. Tuesday, Democrat Margaret Good won a special election to fill a seat in the Florida House that has been held by Republicans.

Wednesday's poll also noted that Democrats hold an eight point lead on a generic house ballot.

The PPP's first public national poll shows Democrats holding a solid 49-41 lead on the generic congressional ballot -- a slightly down from December when Democrats held a 51-40 edge.

Among the poll's other findings:

House Speaker Paul Ryan is seeing a bump in his approval rating after the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in December.

Trump is seeing his highest approval rating for a long time, 44 percent, versus the 50 percent who disapprove.

However, the president's polling still trails other potential 2020 candidates, including Democrats Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Cory Booker and Joe Kennedy.
