Las Vegas police search for potential serial killer after 4 shot

By Susan McFarland

Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Las Vegas police are seeking help from the public, asking for surveillance video from the areas of four recent shootings -- which left two people dead.

Police said three of the four victims were homeless and the other was shot while standing outside a convenience store.

Las Vegas Metro Police Capt. Robert Plummer gave details of the shootings during a news conference Tuesday and posted a plea for help via social media, asking for information from anyone who has security video in the areas of the attacks -- or who may know the gunman or recognize the vehicle.

Authorities said the same gunman is responsible for all four shootings.

The first shooting happened Jan. 29. A few hours later, the gunman approached a group of homeless sleeping outside a mall and shot one dead.

Later, police said, the perpetrator shot another homeless man in the face while he was sleeping; he survived. Another homeless man was shot Friday, twice in the head, while he was sleeping. It was caught on video.

"After killing two people and shooting two others, if he isn't [a serial killer], he's on his way to being one," Plummer told reporters.

Video footage captured at three of the crime scenes shows the shooter driving a gray or light blue Hyundai SUV. Police said he is white or Hispanic, about 6 feet tall.
