Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Rescue crews on Wednesday found the wreckage of a small plane that crashed in northeastern Tennessee killing one woman and injuring her husband.

A U.S. Department of Agriculture helicopter spotted the Beechcraft 35-A33 Debonair near Helenwood, Tenn., Scott County Sheriff Ronnie Phillips said. Forensics experts used cellphone data to narrow down the location of the missing aircraft.

Officials believe the plane crashed Tuesday afternoon after departing the Venice Municipal Airport in Florida. It was reported overdue for its destination in Urbana, Ohio, where the couple were from.

David Maxwell and his dog survived overnight until emergency workers reached the wreckage before 9 a.m. Wednesday and transported him to a hospital. Vicki Maxwell was dead at the scene.

"While we are thankful that our efforts and the efforts of our partnering agencies were able to locate the site and the surviving passenger quickly, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the pilot," Lt. Col. Ande Boyer told WLTV-TV in Knoxville, Tenn.
