FBI: Man with 'interest in killing black people' attempted to hijack Amtrak train

Jan. 5 (UPI) -- A Missouri man with white supremacist links faces terrorism charges after he tried to hijack an Amtrak train in Nebraska, the FBI said in court documents revealed Thursday.

Taylor Michael Wilson was charged n U.S. District Court in Lincoln, Neb. with terrorism attacks and other violence against railroad carriers and mass transportation systems, the Lincoln Journal-Star reported.

Wilson was arrested by local police in Nebraska on Oct. 22 after he was found in a secured area of a train traveling through the state and allegedly triggered an emergency stop control panel.

Police said they found him with a loaded .38-caliber handgun, a speed loader and a National Socialist Movement business card. He also had a backpack full of ammunition, a ventilation mask and several other items.

FBI agents were alerted and they conducted a search of Wilson's electronics and home in Missouri. At his home, they found 15 firearms, a tactical vest and large stocks of ammunition. On his phone, FBI they found documents on how to kill people and evidence of white supremacist associations.

In addition, an informant told the FBI told authorities he had expressed "an interest in killing black people."

Last month, Wilson was ordered to have a mental competency evaluation. He was deemed competent to proceed to trial.
