Dec. 28 (UPI) -- The jackpots in the United States' two multi-state lottery games -- Powerball and Mega Millions -- are approaching a combined $700 million.
Powerball said Thursday its jackpot has jumped to an estimated $384 million after there were no winning tickets Wednesday night. The next drawing is Saturday.
Mega Millions last prize of $42 million was won Oct. 13 and shared by winners in Michigan and Rhode Island. Among the five prizes this year, the biggest was $393 million on Aug. 11 in Illinois.
Powerball's last prize was claimed Oct. 25 -- $191 million by a family in Louisiana. Seven top prizes have been won this year with biggest payout -- $758 million -- on Aug. 23 to a Massachusetts winner.
Tickets for both games cost $2 per play -- but you'll need a lot of luck to win them both. KTRK-TV reported the odds of winning both jackpots are 1 in 75 quadrillion (that's with 15 zeros).
Both games are played in every state and the District of Columbia, except Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada and Utah.
The largest-ever Powerball payout was $1.6 billion in 2016, and $656 million for Mega Millions in 2012.
