Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Three people died when a medical helicopter crashed in Arkansas County, Ark., the county sheriff confirmed.

The aircraft belongs to Pafford Medical Services, based in Hope, Ark. The three people aboard died when it crashed on Sunday night near the town of DeWitt, about 60 miles southeast of Little Rock, officials said.

The helicopter was engulfed in flames when emergency crews got to the scene, KLRT-TV, Little Rock, reported Monday. Federal Aviation Administration representative Lynn Lunford said no hospital patients were aboard the aircraft.

Arkansas County Sheriff Todd Wright said the crash site was difficult to access.

Officials believe the helicopter was traveling from Pine Bluff to DeWitt when the crash occurred.

In a statement posted to Facebook, Pafford Medical Services owners said they were "devastated by the sudden loss of three of our team members."
