Texas authorities call off search for 'active shooter' near Texas church

Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Law enforcement called off a search for a gunman in Texas on Wednesday after police searched the area for about an hour, officials said.

Officials issued an all-clear around 5:10 p.m after reports of shots fired near a nursing home in Floresville at about 4:15.pm.

The Texas Rangers, Texas Department of Public Safety and FBI were searching near the Cotes Medical Building but didn't say if an arrest was made.

Law enforcement said the gun involved appeared to be a pistol, but it was unclear how many rounds were fired.

The man reportedly fled the area and officials launched a search.

A local courthouse was placed on lockdown following the incident.

Vice President Mike Pence was scheduled to attend a vigil for the victim's of a mass shooting at a church in Sutherland Springs, which is in the same county as Floresville, Wilson County.
