Watch live: Sarah Sanders gives White House news briefing

By Allen Cone

Nov. 1 (UPI) -- White House press secretary Sarah Sanders was scheduled for an on-camera press briefing Wednesday afternoon.

After Tuesday's briefing, a suspect identified as Sayfullo Saipov ran a rented pickup truck into bicyclists and pedestrians in New York City -- killing eight.

Wednesday morning, President Donald Trump linked the attack with U.S. immigration policy.

"The terrorist came into our country through what is called the 'Diversity Visa Lottery Program,' a [New York Sen.] Chuck Schumer beauty. I want merit based," he tweeted.

The briefing is Sanders' third since the indictment of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

The White House news conference is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. EDT.

Sanders will also likely be asked about tax reform -- a proposal for which was initially expected Wednesday, but delayed.

Trump said he'd like to sign the legislation into law by Christmas.
