Sanders will be asked about a 12-count indictment Monday naming Manafort and former business associate Rick Gates.

Manafort is charged with conspiracy and tax fraud.

Separately, George Papadopoulos, a foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign, secretly pleaded guilty as part of the probe to making false statements during an interview with the FBI.

Sanders may also be asked about possibly nominating a new Federal Reserve chairperson this week to replace Janet Yellen early next year.

The president also leaves Friday for a 12-day trip to Asia that starts with a stop in Hawaii.
