Dented plane carrying Oklahoma City Thunder likely struck bird

Oct. 28 (UPI) -- A chartered plane carrying Oklahoma City Thunder players landed safely Saturday after a likely impact with a bird severely dented the nose of the aircraft, Delta officials said.

The plane was carrying the team from Minneapolis to Chicago after the team's 119-116 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Upon its descent to Chicago Midway International Airport, the plane struck something, causing the nose to cave in.

"Delta flight 8935, operating from Minneapolis to Chicago-Midway as a charter flight for the Oklahoma City Thunder, likely encountered a bird while on descent into Chicago," a Delta spokesperson told The Oklahoman. "The aircraft, a Boeing 757-200, landed safely without incident; customers have since deplaned and maintenance teams are evaluating. Safety is Delta's top priority."

Team players shared photos of the damaged plane on social media. Most seemed perplexed by what could have caused such a dent. In a Snapchat post, Patrick Patterson suggested Superman was the culprit.
