A spokesman for Fort Bragg told WRAL-TV the Army is investigating what caused the explosion, but did not offer any other details. WRAL reported at least 15 soldiers were transported via helicopter to Womack Army Medical Center. The Fayetteville (N.C.) Observer reported the number injured was eight soldiers.

Officials have not released the names of the soldiers who were injured, nor any information on the seriousness of those injuries.

"There was an incident that occurred on one of the ranges," Lt. Col. Rob Bockholt said. "We're looking into exactly what happened."
