Investigators eye accused teen's behaviors before Wash. school shooting

Sept. 14 (UPI) -- A Washington state teenager who police say killed another student at a Spokane-area high school had previously posted a video on the Internet involving a toy gun.

Caleb Sharpe, the 15-year-old suspect, is seen in the YouTube video appearing to fire toy guns, as well as pretending to shoot a friend.

Sharpe, a sophomore at the school, allegedly started shooting an AR-15 assault rifle Wednesday morning in a hallway at Freeman High School in Rockford.

Students ran for cover, except for one, identified by authorities as Sam Strahan. Officials said after the shooter's rifle jammed, he pulled a handgun and shot Strahan dead.

Three other students were injured. They were hospitalized and are recovering, KHQ-TV reported.

Sharpe also allegedly sent notes to friends saying he was contemplating doing "something stupid."

The accused teenager was taken into custody but has not yet been charged.

Thursday, several districts in nearby Montana, including a community college, closed schools Thursday due to threats. School officials did not elaborate on the nature of the threats.
