Aug. 15 (UPI) -- The American Action Network, a Republican group allied with House Speaker Paul Ryan, said it plans to spend $500,000 on digital advertisements to support GOP-led tax reform.
The campaign, targeting 31 congressional districts nationwide, includes video and display ads that urge the public to tell their political representatives to support tax reforms the group said would help the middle class.
The AAN on Monday announced the 30-day ad campaign that will run in the districts represented by Ryan, members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus and other Republican lawmakers.
"It's time to cut taxes for working families. Congress must act on tax reform that will deliver more jobs, bigger paychecks, and allow the U.S. to compete with countries like China," AAN Executive Director Corry Bliss said in a statement. "Polls show Americans are ready for tax reform, and AAN's Middle-Class Growth Initiative will continue working to build momentum for a pro-growth tax code with lower rates. With this latest effort, across 31 congressional districts, we're urging Americans to make their voices heard and urge their member of Congress to keep up the fight and make meaningful tax reform a reality."
The group, which has released examples of its ads, plans to spend $5 million on its tax-reform efforts in August and up to $20 million by Thanksgiving.
