Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Fire officials evacuated a New Hampshire hospital emergency room Friday after a number of patients and staff began complaining of dizziness.

Emergency officials said they investigated reports of an unknown odor in the facility. The fire department said it may have been caused by a carbon dioxide or anesthesia chemical leak.

Crews described it a "mass casualty incident," and they evacuated more than 20 patients.

Authorities also closed the emergency and operating rooms "out of an abundance of caution.
