Crash at Connecticut airport kills instructor, injures 2

Aug. 11 (UPI) -- A flight instructor died Friday and two others were hurt when an airplane crashed into a small Connecticut airport, authorities said.

The four-seat Cessna C-172, believed to be flown for training, crashed at the end of a runway at Candlelight Farms Airport in New Milford at about 9:45 a.m., the News-Times reported.

The instructor died and two passengers were injured.

One of the injured got out of the plane and managed to get nearby residents to call 911, NBC Connecticut reported. Emergency medical workers flew the other victim, who was critically hurt, to Hartford Hospital.

The single-engine plane originated from Danbury Municipal Airport, about 20 miles south of the airport in New Milford.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
