CNBC reported that Apple, whose stock closed up 4.73 percent, helped aid the morning's record gains.

It's the latest record mark since President Donald Trump took office in January. The index has surpassed 19,000, 20,000 and 21,000 points this year.

The adminstration has touted those gains and Trump tweeted Tuesday that the Dow could soon top 22,000 for the first time in its history.
