Delta flight returns to Seattle after attack in first class

July 7 (UPI) -- A Delta flight en route to Beijing returned to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport after an unruly passenger attacked a flight attendant, injuring three people, the airline said.

The 23-year-old passenger from Florida assaulted a flight attendant about 45 minutes into Flight 129 in the first-class cabin Thursday, Port of Seattle spokesman Perry Cooper said.

Multiple passengers subdued the attacker, and the plane returned to the airport after 7 p.m. Cooper said there was no information suggesting there was a national security threat.

Back at the airport, police arrested the suspect, who is expected to appear in federal court Friday.

One of the passengers and a flight attendant were treated for non-life-threatening injuries; the suspect denied treatment for injuries he sustained.

The flight was rescheduled and departed Sea-Tac at midnight Thursday.
