Watch live: Sean Spicer gives daily press briefing

By UPI Staff

June 27 (UPI) -- White House press secretary Sean Spicer is holding an on-camera daily press briefing for the first time in eight days on Tuesday.

The press will be allowed to televise the event as tensions between some members of the White House press corps and the Trump administration ramped up over the previous weeks.

Of the 15 press briefings held prior to Tuesday, five were on camera.

Asked Monday why cameras weren't allowed to record the briefing as often, Spicer told reporters, "Some days we will have them. Some days we won't."

"We'll see. We'll continue to mix things up."

Spicer said he believes reporters try to showboat and be more confrontational when they're on camera.

"It's great for us to come out here and have a substantive discussion about policies," he said Friday. "I don't think that the be-all and end-all is whether it's on television or not."

Energy Secretary Rick Perry is joining Spicer for Tuesday's briefing.
