By Andrew V. Pestano

May 21 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Fire Department said an Aeroméxico passenger jet taxiing to its gate at the Los Angeles International Airport collided with a runway utility truck and injured eight people.

The crash occurred Saturday shortly after Aeroméxico Flight 642 arrived from Mexico City at about 2:30 p.m., the LAFD said. Though none of the Aeroméxico Boeing 737's about 149 passengers was injured, all eight employees -- six men and two women -- aboard the utility truck sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

"The two females are more seriously injured, while the males have lesser injuries," the LAFD said in a statement on Saturday.

The collision caused the truck to overturn near a taxiway and the plane's right wing had minor damage. LAX said it is investigating the incident. The cause of the collision has not yet been revealed.
