Barron Trump to attend St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Maryland

May 15 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump's youngest son will attend a Maryland school, St. Andrew's Episcopal, in the fall, first lady Melania Trump announced Monday.

Barron Trump, 11, lives in New York City with his mother. He is finishing the school year at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School and will move to the White House during the summer. St. Andrew's Episcopal School, in Potomac, Md., has about 580 students in grades prekindergarten through 12. It is a private, coeducational school about 20 miles from the White House; tuition for the sixth grade is $40,650.

School administrators announced their new admission to their community on Monday, and Melania Trump released a statement saying, "We are very excited for our son to attend St. Andrew's Episcopal School. It is known for its diverse community and commitment to academic excellence. The mission of St. Andrew's is 'to know and inspire each child in an inclusive community dedicated to exceptional teaching, learning, and service,' all of which appealed to our family. We look forward to the coming school years at St. Andrew's."

Barron Trump is one of President Trump's five children. He is the first child of a president to attend the school.

St. Andrew's is noted for its pioneering use of brain-based research to help students of all abilities to succeed. In 2011 it opened its Center for Transformational Teaching and Learning with partner Johns Hopkins University to help instructors apply the best research, on learning and the brain, to teaching. In 2013 it joined a global network of schools, at the invitation of Harvard University, in conducting research and professional development in that area.
