April 3 (UPI) -- A Harris County, Texas, police constable was fatally shot at a courthouse Monday.

Investigators said Greenwood was shot in the neck and radioed for help. Another deputy applied pressure to Greenwood's neck until a medical helicopter transported him to Houston's Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he died, KTRK-TV, Houston, reported.

The shooter fled the scene. Law enforcement officials were conducting a manhunt.

"Whether or not he was specifically targeted, or whether this was because of the uniform or the place he pulled up to in the morning, we just don't know that right now," said Lt. Steve Dorris of the Baytown Police Department.
