March 27 (UPI) -- Four family members died in the crash of their small plane in Blount County, Ala.
The Cessna T210L carrying Joseph and Jennifer Crenshaw and their two teenage children, Jacob and Jillian, went down Saturday in a wooded area near the town of Hayden, in northern Alabama. It was traveling from Kissimmee, Fla., where the family had spent spring break at Disney World, to their hometown in Jackson, Tenn.
The plane went down after it sent a distress signal. Debris from the crash was scattered across three different areas, police said, and witnesses said the plane appeared to fall apart in the air.
"At first we just thought it was thunder and people started stopping and saying they'd seen debris falling," said witness Boyd Wisdom.
The fuselage was found in a heavily wooded area, FAA spokesman Rick Breitenfeld said. The FAA and NTSB began their investigation Sunday.
