George W. Bush did not cast vote for president, spokesman says

HOUSTON, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Unlike his father, former President George W. Bush did not cross party lines and vote for Hillary Clinton for president, opting instead to skip the top line on his ballot.

Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush both skipped voting for president this year, opting not to vote for Clinton or Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in this year's election.

"They didn't vote for Hillary; they didn't vote for Trump," Bush spokesman Freddy Ford said in a statement Tuesday.

Speculation has raged as to who any of the Bushes would vote for, after suggestions that President Bush's father, former President George H.W. Bush, would vote for Clinton and former first lady Barbara Bush questioning the wisdom of voting for Trump several times since February.

While a spokesman for the elder President Bush declined to confirm how he voted, the four Republicans joined 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney -- among other prominent establishment Republicans -- in not backing the Trump candidacy.
