DES MOINES, Iowa, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Court documents show Scott Michael Greene, the man accused of killing two Iowa police officers, physically hit and financially exploited his mother.

The Des Moines Register reported that court records show Polk County District Court Judge Carla Schemmel ordered Greene to move out of his mother's basement on Sunday after authorities determined he hit and exploited his mother, Patricia Greene.

Greene's mother was charged with domestic battery for allegedly slapping her son in October but that charge was dropped due to insufficient evidence on Thursday as officials investigated Greene's background.

Greene, 46, is accused of carrying out separate fatal ambush attacks on officers Justin Martin and Anthony Beminio on Wednesday. He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Des Moines police purposefully arrested Greene with handcuffs belonging to Martin and Beminio.

Officials said both officers were blindsided by the attacks -- shot as they sat in their patrol vehicles. Beminio was an 11-year veteran of the Des Moines department, and Martin joined the Urbandale police force 15 months ago.

Dim Allen, the mother of Joy Allen, a woman who had a 16-year relationship with Greene prior to its end eight years ago, described the man accused of killing officers as antisocial, controlling and angry but said she was not aware that he was physically abusive in the relationship.

Greene had previous confrontations that involved police. Weeks ago, police were called to escort Greene away from a high school football game in Urbandale after witnesses told police he had been waving a Confederate flag in front of black students. Greene posted a video online of the incident.

In 2014, Greene was arrested for resisting a police officer's pat-down attempt, and in another incident, arrested and charged with harassment for threatening and taunting a man with racial slurs. He pleaded guilty in both cases. He was charged with assault in 2001, but the charge was ultimately dropped.
