WASHINGTON, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- The UPI/CVoter daily presidential tracking poll for Wednesday shows Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump by 4.3 percentage points.
The online poll shows Clinton with 49.45 percent to Trump's 45.15 percent.

Wednesday's data reflect a 2.1 percentage point shift from data collected a day earlier, though Trump still remains above water over the last seven days, posting a net gain of 1.6 percentage points over the course of the poll's full sample size on the strength of the three previous days where he posted gains on Clinton.
Trump's one-day drop comes as the poll begins to incorporate voter opinions after he made controversial comments about the Second Amendment that some interpreted as a veiled threat of violence against Clinton.
The UPI/CVoter online tracking poll surveys about 200 people each day, leading to a sample size of roughly 1,400 people during any seven-day span.
Because the poll is conducted online and individuals self-select to participate, a margin of error cannot be calculated. The poll has a credibility interval of 3 percentage points. This seven-day span includes data collected from Aug. 3-10, when 1,546 registered voters were surveyed. Of them, 1,077 identified themselves as likely voters.
