Pilot killed in crop duster crash in Arkansas

JONESBORO, Ark., Aug. 9 (UPI) -- The pilot of a crop duster plane died in a crash in eastern Arkansas.

Michael Burnette, 61, of Hickory Ridge, Ark., was killed Monday afternoon when the plane crashed west of U.S. 49, Cross County Deputy Coroner Mike Bachand said. Arkansas State Police were called at about 2:20 p.m.

Sheriff J.R. Smith said the pilot hit a power line before coming down.

The sheriff's department is awaiting the arrival of the Federal Aviation Administration to investigate.
