One winning $487 million Powerball ticket sold in New Hampshire

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., July 31 (UPI) -- Saturday's Powerball drawing produced one winning ticket sold in New Hampshire.

The ticket matched all five numbers of 11-17-21-23-32 and Powerball 5 in Saturday night's drawing in Tallahassee, according to Powerball.

It was the eighth-largest lottery prize in the United States -- including the rival Mega Millions game.

The ticket was sold at the Hannaford Supermarket in Raymond, N.H. The odds of the winning ticket are 1 in 292 million, according to Powerball.

The largest all-time biggest lottery prize in North America was was worth nearly $1.6 billion in Powerball for three tickets -- sold in California, Tennessee and Florida in January.

Powerball is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Besides the grand prize winner, 10 players matched all five white numbers to win $1 million each. They were sold in California, Florida, Georgia, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Washington and West Virginia. One player in Pennsylvania also played the Power Play option, which increased winnings to $2 million.

Winners can choose between an annuity paid out over 29 years or a cash option, which is about $330 million. Winners must pay federal and varying state income taxes.
